‘Moonbow’ Nail Design Created by Celebrity Manicurist Elle for Dermelect ‘ME’. Inspiration: “Cynthia’s key word describing the inspiration of her collection was ‘moonbows,’ a reflection on the romanticism of her sporty chic line for the Fall 2014 season,” says Elle.“Representing a rainbow of darker shades not using any primary colors, we layered two shades from the same color family on one nail, beginning with a darker red, to orange, yellow, green, indigo and purple to achieve the perfect ‘moonbow’.”
HAIR CUTLER/REDKEN SALON
Lead Stylist Brian Buenaventura for Cutler/Redken Salon. Inspiration: Cynthia's collections always speak to the athletic, sporty girl, after seeing this season's collection, I was inspired to create a look that fun was fun, fresh and completely wearable. I let the hair be down, but incredibly dry with texture, almost a new Bridget Bardot." - Brian Buenaventura for Cutler/Redken Salon
- Redken Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse $15.50
- Redken Refresh 01 Aerosol Hair Powder Dry Shampoo $17.00
- Redken Quick Tease 15 Backcoming Finishing Spray $18.00
- Redken Forceful 23 Super-Strength Finishing Spray $17.00
Step-by-Step:
- Start by applying Redken Full Frame 07 All-Over Volumizing Mousse throughout the hair and blow dry, encouraging volume with the fingers.
- Beginning at the bottom of the head, create one-inch high lateral strips and apply liberal amounts of Redken Refresh 01 Aerosal Hair Powder Dry Shampoo.
- Holding the hair away from the head, begin teasing at the root with a Mason Pearson brush. As the volume is created, spray with Redken Quick Tease 15 Backcombing Finishing Spray.
- Begin on next strip, working up the head until you reach the front hairline.
- After the roots are completely teased, add movement using a 2-inch curling iron to create loose waves towards the bottom of the hair.
- Create a deep left part and brush hair towards the ear, smoothing hair with the Mason Pearson brush.
- Tuck the parted hair behind the ear, letting a few whisps fall just in front of the ear.
- For a malleable hold, finish by lightly dusting hair with Redken Forceful 23 Super Strength Finishing Spray.
