BACKSTAGE BEAUTY F/W 2014 DIEGO BINETTI: OBSESSIVE COMPULSIVE COSMETICS, CUTLER SALON/REDKEN & MORGAN TAYLOR
Not a dream as this Curl~Gurl went "From Runway to Reality!" Fashion MONTH is over, but the fashions previewed for the fall 2014/winter 2015 season are still here! On a brisk Sunday morning last February 9th, I arrived for my backstage beauty session for the Diego Binetti show. Held at an open, sunny midtown loft, I had the pleasure to join Cutler Salon/Redken (hair), Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics (OCC makeup) and Morgan Taylor (nails.)
HAIR: Jenny Balding Cutler Salons for REDKEN. To compliment this collection, Jenny Balding created a look with a naturally disheveled, rock-n-roll, effortless feel. "This is a woman who wouldn't spend much time on her hair, but looks effortlessly sexy and disheveled. Enhancing natural beauty was key for this look." - Sounds good to me, as I rarely comb my hair! I had the pleasure of meeting Jenny last year at the REDKEN Curvaceous Curl launch.

Create the Look:
- Start with clean, dry hair to showcase hair's natural texture.
- Use a dry shampoo like Redken pillow proof blow dry two day extender & oil absorbing dry shampoo to give body and volume at the roots.
- Spray section by section from the nape of the neck, right up to the front hairline.
- Mist hair all over with a light hairspray.
- Jenny used Redken fashion work 12 versatile working spray as you can layer it on without it becoming sticky.
- Use a large curling iron only to create a bend in the mid shaft of the hair – this creates movement and texture.
- Shake your hair out and let it fall into its natural part to give this effortless, sexy disheveled finish.
MAKE-UP: Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics killed it as usual. The make-up wasn't the "dark/grunge" look, but rather a bit more natural, while right in line with the rock-n-roll, heavy and dark fashion collection inspiration.
Best of both worlds: OCC Make-up Founder David Klasfeld & Hair Guru Jenny Balding |
NAILS: Morgan Taylor Lacquer nailed it at the Diego Binetti show, with three unique nail looks: subtle nude, bold red and an edgy green. The nail inspiration was "Earthy, hands in the dirt, a connection to Earth - dirt around the cuticles."
As always, I have a blast backstage at every NY Fashion Week show and cannot thank all my amazing reps, hair/make-up/nail teams, the models and designers for such a blessing!
