My friend Nicole always tells me "Ev, be careful what you wish for dear..." and she was right. This NYFW season was everything I wished for and way more than I could handle: 62 shows in 7 days! There were days where I don't know where I found the strength to even get out of bed. I would leave my apartment at 6:00 am, to return at 11:00 pm - and do it all over again the next day. It took an arsenal of products to get me through the first few days, until I realized what else I needed as the week progressed. These got me started:

September 11, 2011 - I'll Never Forget

REFLECTING AND REMEMBERING
 WORLD TRADE CENTER 9/11


What a way to switch gears: fresh from 63 NY Fashion Week shows - to the 13th anniversary of the September 11th attacks. Talk about screeching brakes on a runaway freight train! As a survivor, it's never easy especially when you were in the building that day (south tower 2, 35th floor ABM. We were hit second, but fell first) and lost so many friends and colleagues. If no one can forget, how can we? I mean it when I say I'm "No fuss, no muss - with Smiles for Miles" because at this point NOTHING or no one can possibly break my spirit after that.

The sounds, sights and smells of that day are something straight out of a horror movie that replay over and over, no matter how hard you try to shut it out. It is for this reason, that at this point I stopped explaining "my story" to all those that ask me "oh my God, I didn't know you worked there - what did you see/how was it like?" I've told my story so many times and apologize to all my new friends who would like to know. In due time, just not today. Today is a day where I don't answer many calls, remember and reflect, so I go into "stealth mode." I think I've earned that right.

Truly a long and sad week after so much waiting, hoping and praying. I am so disappointed as I really did expect some sort of miracle, but the lady who made my first fashion week two years ago so memorable, and made millions laugh, is gone.  As I ran from one Fashion Week show to another today, I looked at my social media feed to learn that our beloved Joan Rivers had passed away. Fashion Week will never again be the same and my heart goes out to her daughter Melissa and her entire family at E!. A true trailblazer has been lost, even at age 81 - it wasn't time yet, especially not during her favorite time of the year: Fashion Week.

This past mid-July, I had the pleasure of attending a private event for Elizabeth Arden's new Flawless Future , three new breakthrough products powered by Ceramide, for skin compromised by STRESS! What took me so long? Well its no secret that skincare is important to me and I like to test products thoroughly before giving my input, but after a month of test-driving Flawless Future, my skin and I are ready! I wasn't feeling too well the day of this event, but nothing could keep me away from Elizabeth Arden to lean about the Flawless Future: Caplet Serum ($60), Moisture Cream (also available in SPF30 - $50) and Ceramide eye Gel ($40)
