Academy Awards Make-UP: ELIZABETH ARDEN

ELIZABETH ARDEN:

Julie Delpy and Zooey Deschanel

Julie Delpy

Actress Julie Delpy exuded glamour at this year’s Academy Awards. The ‘Before Midnight’ star, whose makeup look was created by celebrity makeup artist Beau Nelson for Elizabeth Arden, simply glowed in dress reminiscent of 1950’s Hollywood.

Inspiration: “Julie is truly a classic beauty and on such a special occasion, I wanted her makeup look to be glamorous but still natural - a nod to the iconic beauties of 1950’s Hollywood.” ~Beau Nelson
Oscar Nominee Julie Delpy, at the 86th Annual Academy Awards

SKIN PREP: I wanted Julie’s skin to be the perfect canvas to her natural makeup, so I treated it to a spa-facial glow using Ceramide Boosting 5-Minute Facial ($85) I followed this with PREVAGE Anti-Aging + Intensive Repair Daily Serum ($225) and Eight Hour® Cream Nourishing Lip Balm Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 20. ($19.50)

COMPLEXION: To achieve Julie’s semi-matte, soft complexion, I swept the skin with Flawless Finish Sponge-on Cream Makeup in Vanilla Shell, ($36.50) and then dabbed Flawless Finish Correcting and Highlighting Perfector ($28) in Shade 02 under the eyes for added luminosity. I set the foundation with Pure Finish Mineral Powder Foundation Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 20 in Shade 2 ($39.50)

EYES: I washed Beautiful Color Eye Shadow ($18.50) in Sandstone over the lids and up to the brows to really open the eye. I then shifted the focus to her perfectly groomed brows and feather like lashes with Beautiful Color Brow Shaper  ($22) in Soft Blonde and two coats of Beautiful Color Lash Enhancing Mascara ($24) on the top and a light coat on the bottom.

CHEEKS: I gave Julie’s cheeks a subtle wash of color with Beautiful Color Radiance Blush ($26) in Sunburst.

LIPS: The moist red lips are the focal point of this look, and I loved pairing the iconic feel with Elizabeth Arden’s signature hue. To ensure long-lasting color, I lined Julie's lips with Beautiful Color Precision Glide Liner ($20.50) in Red Door Red, using the lip paddle to flood the lips with pigment, and then topped with Beautiful Color Moisturizing Lipstick ($25) in Red Door Red for a moisturized and supple pout.

Zooey Dechanel
Zooey Deschanel at The 2014 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

Actress Zooey Dechanel rocked 70’s glam at this year’s Vanity Fair Oscar Party. The "New Girl" star, whose makeup look was created by celebrity makeup artist Jorjee Douglass for Elizabeth Arden, was nothing short of radiant in a floral Dior dress.

Inspiration: “Today’s Vanity Fair Oscars Party look was inspired by Zooey’s Dior dress and 70’s styled hair.” ~Jorjee Douglass

SKIN PREP: I first prepped the skin with Vbeauté Undercover Agent ($45 Amazon.com) on Zooey’s face and neck, which gave us a beautiful dewy under glow canvas to work off of.

COMPLEXION: For a natural, fresh-faced complexion, I swept Zooey’s skin with Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Perfectly Nude Makeup Broad Spectrum Sunscreen SPF 15 ($38.50) in Linen.

EYES: For dramatic depth and color that lasts, I brush Elizabeth Arden’s Pure Finish Cream Eye Shadow ($21) in Anchors away across the whole lid and under the lash line . Next, I smoked out the corners of the outer lash line with Beautiful Color Smokey Eyes Pencil ($18) in Espresso. I blended both shades and highlighted the brow bone with Elizabeth Arden’s Pure Finish Cool Radiance Highlighter ($29.50) in First Mate.

CHEEKS: I popped the apples of Zooey’s cheeks with Beautiful Color Radiance Blush ($26) in Tearose, and then added luminosity with my new favorite - Pure Finish Cool Radiance Highlighter ($29.50) in First Mate, it’s so multi-faceted!

LIPS: I used Beautiful Color Luminous Lip Gloss ($26) in Sunset. The color was perfectly soft yet rich to round off the look in a classic way.
